Old School Hip-Hop Dancers

Michael Jackson

Although Michael Jackson is recognised as the King of Pop, many of his dancing techniques have hip hop roots. He created a unique combination of pop and hip-hop worthy dance by combining hip-hop dance movements with funk, soul, and electric boogaloo. His fashion sense and elegance are admired all around the world.

Run-DMC

This name may not even be familiar to the younger generation. Run-DMC was a popular hip-hop group in the 1980s, and they were known for their timeless hip-hop moves.

Aaliyah

In the 1990s, Aaliyah was a popular hip-hop and pop singer. She was named one of the top 25 dancers of all time by BET (Black Entertainment Television). Her style was unique, wonderful, and she included a variety of hip-hop genres. Unfortunately, she perished in a plane disaster in 2001. She has shared the stage with creative hip-hop artists such as Sean Combs and Timberland throughout her career.

Paula Abdul

She rose to fame recently as a judge on American Idol, but she has always had a cult following for her choreography and musical abilities. She organized dance routines for prominent performers such as Janet Jackson and The Jacksons as a choreographer and hip-hop dancer in the realm of hip hop dance.

Modern/New Style Hip-Hop Dancers

Ciara

Ciara is a dancer and singer from the United States who made her debut in 2004. She is well-known for her hip-hop and pop-influenced dancing and music. She’s also performed with famous artists like Akon, Ja Rule, and Flo Rida, and won Best Dance Performance at the Soul Train Music Awards in 2010.

NappyTabs (Tabitha and Napoleon D’umo)

Who hasn’t heard of this incredible and irresistible couple? They met in high school and began choreographing hip-hop shows for the Culture Shock dance group. They are currently working as resident choreographers on the show So You Think You Can Dance.

These two have organized dance performances for Michal Jackson’s Cirque du Soleil’s outstanding World Tour. They’ve also collaborated with Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, Madonna, and Celine Dion, to name a few.

Les Twins

You should be aware that the Les Twins are identical French brothers. They are well-known internationally for their new-style hip-hop talents. They have won various hip-hop honours over their career, including the World of Dance in 2010. Good Morning America, BET, and the Ellen DeGeneres Show have all featured them. And they’ve collaborated with a slew of celebrities, including Beyoncé, Timberland, and Kanye West.

Beyoncé

Beyoncé is a name that almost every hip-hop fan is familiar with. She doesn’t really require an introduction. Beyonce is one of the most influential female dancers, vocalists, and public figures of our time. She started off as a member of Destiny’s Child and went on to have a solo career after the group disbanded. Beyoncé’s blockbuster track “Single Ladies” sparked a worldwide dance craze, with many of her signature motions becoming classics in hip-hop routines.
